Frequently asked questions
Including the ones most sites in this business avoid.
Every answer here is one the site can back from its own pages. If yours is not covered, ask on the beginners’ page — it answers in plain words and will tell you when it does not know.

- Can I place a bet here?#
- No. CacheOut is not a sportsbook: it takes no bets, holds no funds and is not licensed to accept wagers anywhere. It publishes who it thinks will win each game, and when a pick is worth cashing out. Anything you choose to do with that happens at a book you pick, under that book's rules.
- Do you sell picks or tips?#
- No. There is no Telegram channel, no pick package and nothing to buy. The boards, the cash-out alerts and the record are free to everyone. The record is published whole, including the picks that lost, because a record with the losses removed is marketing rather than evidence.
- What does it cost?#
- Nothing. The boards and the cash-out alerts are free — no plans, no trial and no card. A free account opens every board. The site is paid for by the advertising link, which is labelled where it appears, and by selling account data to advertisers and data partners, as the privacy policy sets out. Stopping that sale takes one click and changes nothing about your account.
- Will following these calls make money?#
- Almost certainly not on their own, and the site is built to make that checkable rather than to hide it. Our chances to win start from what bookmakers are offering, with the bookmaker's cut taken out — so betting every pick at those odds would break even over time by design, and a real sportsbook pays a little less than that. The results page shows the numbers either way: the picks that landed were worth a good deal, and backing all of them would still have lost money.
- Where do the numbers come from?#
- From the odds bookmakers are offering on each game, averaged across every book we can see, with the bookmaker's cut taken out so the chances add up to 100%. American football comes from API-Sports and golf from Data Golf. Nothing is typed in by hand and no number on a board is chosen by a person.
- What does 'before kickoff' mean on a result?#
- The call was written to the database while the game was still unplayed, and the timestamp says when. It matters because the alternative — working out a pick after the game from odds that outlived it — is honest but reconstructed, and you would have only our word that the number was not chosen once the score was known. Calls posted before kickoff carry no such caveat, and the results page labels which is which rather than blurring them.
- Why do some games have no pick yet?#
- Because no bookmaker was offering odds on them yet. Picks post once they do, usually one to two days before kickoff. It is ordinary rather than broken, particularly in college football, where the feed covers a minority of the slate. A game with no pick never enters the record, which is why the results page reports how much of the slate was graded beside how much of it we got right.
- What is a cash-out alert?#
- An email we send during a game when one of our picks has become far more likely to win than it was before kickoff — the only window in which a sportsbook's cash-out offer is worth taking. The alert says the window is open and how likely the pick now is to win. It does not tell you to take it, and it cannot take it for you.
- Do I need an account, and what do you store?#
- The homepage, the NFL board, the methodology and the results are open to anyone. The other boards open with a free account. An account is an email address and a password, and nothing else — the password is hashed inside the database and never reaches the application, and there is no name and no tracking profile.
- How often does it update?#
- The boards re-read scores and odds continuously while games are on. Separately, a scheduled job drives the boards every half hour so that a call is recorded before kickoff whether or not anyone is looking — a record that depends on a visitor arriving is a record with holes in it.
- Are you affiliated with the NFL, the NCAA or any sportsbook?#
- No. No league, team or governing body is involved in or endorses this site. Where a link to a sportsbook is paid, it is labelled as an advertisement at the link itself.

Start here explains the whole thing from the beginning, with a question box on the page. How it works is the detailed version, and the glossary defines every term either of them uses. The record is where you check any of it.
